baby Stevens
5:23:00 PM
Last Tuesday we found out that we'll be having a little baby boy and we are so thrilled. The morning we found out we woke up at 4:30 and were on the road by 5:00 to get the best fishing spot on the Weber river. Our friends and family laughed at us for squeezing in a quick fishing trip before our appointment but the time we had on the river - and then at breakfast - just before our appointment was really special.
Up until that morning I could only imagine Kory being a dad to little girls because I see him with my little nieces so often. I knew he'd be an amazing father to any child but I just couldn't totally picture it. That morning, though, as Kory was giving me tips, and helping me set my hook, and as I watched him be so in his element, I could picture him waking up early on Saturday mornings and taking our little boy fishing. It was such a short, fleeting, thought. But it was special. And it got me excited.
The moment we found out was very special. I was praying the whole way in that the baby would be in a good position so we wouldn't have to wait to find out. Almost immediately Kory asked the nurse if she thought she'd be able to tell. She smiled and said "I think I already know." She focused the monitor and Kory semi-shouted out "it's a boy!" He held my hand as the nurse snapped about a million pictures and took all the baby's measurements even though she wasn't supposed to. The only word I can think of to describe it all is special - because it was. We already love this little boy so much. We feel so blessed and we are so excited for what is to come.
