involuntary words.

3:24:00 PM

under the lilies
below the grass
this rest upon us comes.

beside the water
beneath the trees,
in our final setting sun.

the stars smile down,
in their vague knowledge there,
and peaceful the silent tongue rests

below the grass
where the black lilies grow
the heavy lids look is their last

the willows weep their tears
in the eyes of the stars,
but the time for tears is gone

far above the lilies
beyond the grass
a place far off is home.

the cheeks, their pallor growing
the lips their smile a line.
till under the lilies, under the grass
the sweet breath lost is mine.
